la BEAST gallery is delighted to announce the release of Neither Land Nor Water, a new publication celebrating Amy MacKay’s second solo exhibition with the gallery.
Conceived as a backstage view into MacKay’s performance-based painting practice, the publication brings together an extensive selection of her paintings and previously unpublished documentation of the performances that inform them. The book also features an original text by Kristin Posehn, interviews with MacKay’s collaborators, and a conversation between MacKay and artist Monica Majoli.
Together, these contributions offer a deeper understanding of MacKay’s unique process of translation, in which performance, memory, and documentation are continually reimagined through painting.
