Biography
Aydin Hamami (b. 1988, Washington, DC) is a Turkish-American Artist living and working in Los
Angeles. His pseudo-naïve abstract paintings draw their imagery and inspiration from Hamami’s
own experiences with anxiety and depression, as well as the poetic and philosophical traditions
of Zen Buddhism. His works are often characterized by non-specific imagery coupled with a
purposefully clumsy hand, melding empty spaces and fleshy objects in idiosyncratic images
referencing painterly traditions such as Still-Life and Landscape without obliquely depicting
either.
Hamami’s paintings have been shown throughout the U.S. and in private collections in Tokyo
and Istanbul. He holds a BFA from Pratt Institute, a post-baccalaureate degree from Maryland
Institute College of Art, and an MFA from The University of Maryland.
